Zen, piece two

The water becomes clear: the scene

How settled is the water?
A still pool at duskA dark, flat pool in grey-green light. A low stone rests on the left of the water, with thin rings spreading from it. Five pale ridges stand in fog along the far shore, and a warm round disc hangs low in the sky on the right.
Drawn in SVG and CSS. The picture is still; only the mood changes.

The water is cloudy. The murk is thick, the fog is heavy and the rings around the stone are strong.

The water is at rest. The murk is thin, the fog is light and the rings around the stone are faint.

The water is clear. The fog has lifted, the disc is warm and the rings around the stone have almost gone.

Do you have the patience to wait until the mud settles and the water is clear?

After the Tao Te Ching, chapter 15.
